Chapter One

Christopher

Friday Morning, Hardt Enterprises

What a fucking day it’s been and it’s not even close to quitting time. I need a bourbon and I need it fast. I walk over to my liquor cabinet and search for the bourbon. Gone.

I can guarantee who touched it. Jade Brooks-Miss Goody Two Shoes- my secretary. I stomp over to my office door and yank it open. I search the hallway for her, my presence apparently stopping everyone else in their tracks. I shouldn’t be drinking this early in the morning-hell, I shouldn’t be drinking at all. And boy did she know that. Little Miss Get What She Wants, always had the slick comments about what I consume, but this was going too far. I needed it. Now.

“Mr. Hardt, you forgot to sign the funding report.”

“Shit. Give it to me.” I signed the report and sent the boy on his way. I started to walk down the hallway and then I spotted her. We locked eyes and she smirked at me. Oh, so she does know why I’m looking for her. Our eyes stayed locked on each other as she sipped her coffee and then took a bite of her morning bagel.

I wanted to scream.

She takes one last sip of her coffee, then winks at me-she fucking winks at me! Usually if a woman shows any sort of attention to me, I’m there, hard and ready. But then again, if any other woman defied me as much as her, I’d have them over my knee, spanking them until they begged me to stop. 

She threw her empty cup in the bin and walked over to the copier and started making copies of what I would hope to be pink slips. I’ve had it with her. I don’t care how good she looks, this was too much for me. Way too much.

“Christopher, we have a meeting at ten.”

I rolled my eyes and turned to look at Jax, my brother and business partner. “Look, I need to have a word with Miss Brooks.”

“You want to chase pussy? Fine. But do it on your own time.” He spits. 

“Oh, please dip shit. That is not what's going on.”

“Then what is it? She threw your booze out? Don’t bother her. Bother me. I told her to do it and frankly, I’m tired of you smelling like shit before the work day is over. How in the hell is your liver still functioning?”

I glare back at him and cross my arms. "Just mind your fucking business, Jax and do as I say."
